Leprosy
The Awareness Programe is launched to make the people aware of the disease with its signs and symptoms and its care and curability with MDT (Multi Drugs Therapy) which is available in all Health centres free of cost.
The achievements (Physical) i.e. no. of cases detected, and put on MDT, number of cases RFT, no. of cases undergoing treatment with MDT, number of relapse cases and number of cases with Grade-II disability are attached herewith.
Achievements
- The Prevalence Rate (PR) of Leprosy in West Garo Hills District is 0.06 (less than 1 Per ten thousand).
- There were 4 (four) number of cases under MDT in 2010-11 in the district. As envisage under NRGM the District Leprosy Society is to be brought under the overall umbrella of District Health Society.
- 95% General Health care staff had been trained in the diagnosis and treatment of Leprosy, early detection through self reporting (voluntarily) as well as prevention of disability (P.O.D).
Community S.E.T (Survey Education Treatment) and L.T.C. (Leprosy Treatment Centre) which are located under the different PHCs/CHCs Block wise is enclosed in the next page with P.R. (Prevalence rate) and (N.C.D.R) New case Detection rate up to 31-10-10 only.
